SWOC – Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Challenges

STRENGTHS

  • The oldest co- education college at district sub- Headquarters with Forty-Six Years of proud existence Accredited with ‘B’ grade by NAAC.
  • The Institution has qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty.
  • Beneficiary of RUSA grant under RUSA 2.0 SCHEME.
  • Availability of modern and suitable infrastructure. Eco- friendly campus with solar panel and water harvesting system etc.
  • Student centric educational environment.
  • Availability of different Scholarships facility for different classes of society to ensure inclusiveness and opportunity.
  • Technology-enabled campus with LAN and 24X7 Wi-Fi internet and an Automated library facilities with access e-books and journals is available through N-LIST for academic pursuits.
  • Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance of the campus premises and R O water is also available.
  • The Institution promotes sports and extracurricular activities participation for overall development of students through NSS, YDC.
  • Democratically elected students-Union to best represent the aspirations of students on various platforms.
  • Regular classes are ensured and Teachers strive to ensure good attendance.

WEAKNESSES

  • Student-teacher ratio is not as per requirement As per the increasing strength of students and number of courses more classrooms and laboratories are required.
  • Frequent deputations and transfers of the faculties to the other institutions.
  • Lack of Financial Resources – dependency on state funding, the necessity to update and to maintain resources and services.
  • Lack of systemic mechanism for monitoring student progression.
  • Limited industry collaboration, Paucity of consultancy and exchange programs, Non-existence of incubation and priming for start-ups.
  • Lack of consultancy and exchange programmes.
  • Lack of institutional fund for research activities.
  • There is a problem in tracking of Alumni.
  • The library facilities could not be bettered in terms of acquiring books, journals and equipment.


OPPORTUNITIES

  • Development of more qualitative E content and E resources using available IT tools for online study.
  • Strengthening of campus placement activities.
  • Freedom in collaboration and consultancy Initiation of incubation Centre and start up activities.
  • Increasing the faculty development programmes and trainings for all the staff members.
  • Commencement of vocational courses and skill development activities.
  • Strengthening the two-way connection between the institution and community for making education more comprehensive.
  • Setting up a learning path leading to employability and industry.
  • Conjunction with the alumni two tab the smooth potentialities students progression and developing skills.

CHALLENGES

  • Teaching and Non -Teaching staff ratio in proportion to workload and student strength. Since appointments and placement of Teaching and Non-teaching staff are as per Government procedures and policies.
  • Constraints of financial resources for specific infrastructure requirements.
  • Prepare the students for proper placement and employability with existing course structures.
  • Monitoring learning outcome and planning accordingly for individual level mentoring and adaptive student based learning.
  • Non availability of vocational and professional courses in the institution which affects the placement activities of the institution.
  • Large number of students appears in this college as non -collegiate students in their annual examinations and the college finds it very difficult to handle them with scant human resources.
  • Number of computers and ICT tools need to be increased so that IT infrastructure for computer LAB, language LAB, Virtual LAB.
